Disc golf has been played for 20 years in Israel, in temporary courses that were organized mainly by Yuval Zmiri.

In 2004 Yuval Zmiri led the first Discgolf class for Instructors in the Nat Holman school for Coaches and Instructors in the Wingate Institute Israel. The School is empowered by the Sports Law to train coaches and instructors in competitive and noncompetitive sports and conducts courses for referees, managers of recreational facilities and sport administrators. Wingate is Israel's National Centre for Physical Education and Sport, that was inaugurated in 1957 and is named in honor of Major General Orde Charles Wingate “The Friend”.

In 2013 the first permanent disc golf course in Israel was established in Park Eshkol. The course was setup due to Yuval Zmiri's initiative and approved by the Israeli Park and Nature Authorities (IPNA). The Design was made by Yuval Zmiri and James Beasley. The actual construction of the course was done by IPNA's workers managed by Eliav Yehuda and Yuval Zmiri.

Disc golf courses are normally laid out in and around or partly wooded areas with diverse terrain to provide natural obstacles to the flight of the disc. These natural obstacles are very much a part of the game and must not be altered by a player in any way to decrease the difficulty of a hole. Players must play the course as they find it and play the disc where it lies unless allowed otherwise by the PDGA rules.

The Baskets are Discatcher Pro PDGA approved and the Tee Pads are concrete made in the Blue course and hand natural made in the Red beginner's course.

The Stations are being groomed regularly.

The amenities of Park Eshkol including lodging, camping, Barbeque facilities, the natural fountain makes it one of the best courses and the first permanent in the Middle East.
